The Queens Hotel and Spa in Bournemouth has been bought by Switch Management Ltd, securing the long-term future of the landmark East Cliff site and its 68 employees.
The Birmingham-based company has acquired the 109-room hotel for an undisclosed sum, marking its first hotel purchase.
Until now, Switch has focused on managing high-end hospitality properties across the Midlands, including Park Regis and St Martin’s Place in Birmingham.
The Queens Hotel entered administration in March last year. The new owners have confirmed they will invest in both short and long-term redevelopment to upgrade the hotel’s spa, wellness and event facilities.
Located within walking distance of Bournemouth’s beaches and visitor attractions, the hotel features a pool, spa, gardens and event spaces for up to 200 guests.
Switch Management says it will focus on improving the hotel’s offer for weddings and corporate events, in line with its wider hospitality portfolio.
John Angus, Managing Director of Switch, said the hotel’s coastal position made it an ideal site for redevelopment and added that the company is aiming to raise service standards while showcasing the best of Bournemouth to visitors.
The Queens Hotel has operated in Bournemouth since the early 1900s and the property went into administration under Bespoke Hotels in March 2024.
Switch Management Ltd has announced similar revitalisation plans for other properties in recent years, focusing on modernisation and guest experience.
