Man assaulted on Bournemouth seafront as police make arrests

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was assaulted near Bournemouth Pier in the early hours of Sunday 22 June.

The victim, a man in his 30s from Bournemouth, was walking with another man along Undercliff Drive, near the Harry Ramsden’s fish and chip shop, when he was approached by a group of four men at around 2am.

One of the men reportedly punched the victim in the face, causing him to fall. The three others are said to have chased the victim’s companion to the nearby Aruba Bar, where he raised the alarm with door staff.

Officers responded to the incident and arrested four men – aged 25 and 27 from Hayes, and 21 and 26 from Southall in West London – on suspicion of assault. All four have been released on police bail while enquiries continue.

The victim sustained facial and chest injuries and was treated at hospital.

Police are now asking anyone who witnessed the incident, or who may have relevant information, to come forward. Officers believe several people were in the area at the time.
