Warm weather and a major cycling music event are expected to draw large numbers of people to Bournemouth this weekend, with Dorset Police working to keep disruption and crime to a minimum.
Extra officers from across the county will be on duty to tackle anti-social behaviour and public violence, and to make sure reported incidents are responded to quickly.
A Drum and Bass on the Bike event will take place on Sunday afternoon and is expected to attract large crowds.
In response to community concerns raised after a previous event, Dorset Police has placed a condition on the organiser to follow a set route under Section 12 of the Public Order Act.
The group must travel from Kings Park Drive via Littledown Avenue, Harewood Avenue, Christchurch Road, Seabourne Road and Southbourne Overcliff Drive, before finishing near Boscombe Pier.
Chief Inspector Darren Harris said the measures aim to reduce disruption and ensure emergency services can maintain access across Bournemouth during the town’s busiest period.
Dorset Police also reminded attendees that using private e-scooters on public roads is illegal and could lead to seizure and prosecution.
Councillor Andy Martin said the council was working with police to manage the event’s impact, and advised road users to allow extra time for journeys on Sunday afternoon.
