A Christchurch-based community project helping women and young people learn DIY skills has received a boost with the donation of toolkits from a builders merchant in Poole.
From North End Farm, a female-led not-for-profit organisation, runs practical workshops aimed at boosting confidence through hands-on skills. The team recently received ten toolkits from Selco Builders Warehouse’s Poole branch to support a new round of courses.
The donation includes screwdrivers, hammers, pliers and other essential tools, which will now be used in beginner sessions on power tools, car and bike maintenance, carpentry and more.
Co-founder Lou Brown said the initiative is focused on providing an inclusive and non-judgemental environment, with a particular emphasis on supporting care leavers and women. Some of the course spaces are available free to women on benefits.
Selco Poole’s branch manager Jon Harris said the company is pleased to support access to practical learning, helping people gain the confidence to tackle jobs themselves.
All workshops are led by instructors with lived experience and are hosted at North End Farm in Christchurch.
