Staff from McCarthy Stone’s Old Market Village in Wimborne have spent time volunteering at the town’s Allendale Community Centre, helping with improvement work and supporting the team of employees and volunteers who keep the site running.
The community centre is home to a wide range of local activities and services, including a café, food bank and regular events.
After hosting its Discovery Days there last year, McCarthy Stone returned to donate both time and funds.
Staff from across the business helped clean and organise kitchen areas used by foodbank volunteers, cleared vegetation from the outdoor areas, and carried out painting work inside the theatre and hall.
A dedicated dementia space was also reorganised, and food donations were sorted ahead of a planned relocation. The team also planted flowers and hedging at the entrance to help make the space more welcoming.
The volunteering effort ended with the presentation of a £1,000 cheque from McCarthy Stone to the Allendale Centre. Elizabeth Barge, from the centre’s management team, said the donation and support were “much appreciated” and helped keep its services going.
McCarthy Stone’s Old Market Village began welcoming residents last year and is located nearby in Wimborne. It offers a mix of bungalows and apartments for those aged over 65 and 70, centred around a village green and with communal facilities including a Wellness Suite and Bistro.
