Officers take laughing gas from several people near Bournemouth Pier

Officers patrolling Bournemouth Town Centre on Friday dealt with multiple incidents of anti-social behaviour as part of a continuing operation to keep key public areas safe and welcoming.

The patrols, including PC Hayden and colleagues, focused on the areas around Bournemouth Pier and the Lower and Central Gardens as part of Dorset Police’s #BeachBeat initiative.

Officers engaged with several individuals causing disruption and asked them to leave the area.

During the patrols, more than a dozen large nitrous oxide canisters were also found and safely disposed of.

Nitrous oxide is now classified as a Class C drug – it is illegal to possess, supply, or give it away, with penalties ranging from a fine to prison.

The police say efforts will continue through the summer to address anti-social behaviour in public spaces.
