Community music festival marks 25 years in Ashley Cross

Grooves on the Green will return to Ashley Cross later this month for a special silver jubilee edition.

The three-day event will celebrate 25 years since local business owner Jan Crump launched the family-friendly music festival to bring the community together while raising money for charity.

This year’s line-up features Dorset-based tribute acts including Oasiss, The Few Fighters, Stereoironics and Inspired by Adele, alongside performances from local musicians such as Volatile Agents, Rat Race, Quinns Quinney, Brass Monkeys, Chris Payn and more.

Organisers say the event will stay true to its community roots with all musicians, traders and children’s entertainers coming from the local area.

The Kidz Zone will include performances and activities from Krazy Kev, Little Gizmos, Squidge & Pop, Jamie Jigsaw and Mr Merlin, with rides provided by William Cole & Son.

Since its early years, Grooves on the Green has raised around £50,000 for Diverse Abilities Plus, which supports children and adults with physical and learning disabilities. The founder’s son, Brandon, who uses the charity’s services, has helped secure prizes for the festival’s fundraising raffle.

Drinks will be available from local and regional breweries, as well as the Bricklayers Bar and Groove Garden Bar, with food stalls offering a variety of options including Greek, African, Asian and European dishes, plus desserts and coffee.

The festival opens at 4pm on Friday and from 11am on both Saturday and Sunday (27 to 29 June 2025). Bars will close at 9pm on Friday and Saturday, and 7pm on Sunday, when the park reopens to the public.
