Bournemouth Water offers refill stations at summer events

Bournemouth Water is supporting World Refill Day today by providing free refill stations at local events across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole this summer.

The campaign encourages people to cut down on single-use plastics by topping up reusable bottles with tap water.

Refill stations have already been in place at Bournemouth 7s Festival and Bournemouth University’s Summer Ball.

They will next appear at the Bourne Free Pride Festival at Meyrick Park on Friday 11 and Saturday 12 July, followed by Bournemouth Reggae Weekender at Kings Park Drive from Friday 25 to Sunday 27 July.

A further station is confirmed for the New Forest Marathon on Sunday 14 September in Brockenhurst.

The stations are part of Bournemouth Water’s work to make clean, local tap water more accessible during warmer months, helping people stay hydrated while reducing plastic waste.

World Refill Day, held on 16 June each year, highlights the environmental benefit of using refillable bottles instead of buying bottled water. The company says even small changes like this can reduce plastic pollution in rivers, beaches and countryside.

Alongside its work at events, Bournemouth Water is encouraging customers to use water more wisely at home – from fixing leaks to using leftover water in the garden.

Richard Stanbrook, Director of Drinking Water Services at Bournemouth Water, said the refill campaign helps promote long-term change. He added that supporting events with refill stations is a practical step people can take to reduce plastic waste and save water.
