Shake and Stir Festival is returning to Southbourne this month with a programme of vintage music, entertainment and family fun.
The event will take place at Fisherman’s Walk on Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 June and, for the first time in its eleven-year history, will be ticketed to help cover rising operational costs.
Saturday’s line-up will now run into the evening, finishing at 9pm with a headline performance by Dutch rock and roll band The Explosion Rockets.
The festival includes live music, dancing, vintage cars, artisan stalls and retro entertainment.
Mandy Polkey, Managing Director of Stir Events CIC, said: “This festival is a part of the community — but we can’t make it happen without ticket sales. We’ve got an amazing line-up and a ticket price that offers real value.”
BCP Council’s Portfolio Holder for Customer, Communications and Culture, Councillor Andy Martin, added: “We’re proud to support such an important event that not only celebrates culture and creativity, but also helps keep local accommodation providers, bars, restaurants and shops thriving.”
Organisers say more than 20 similar events across the UK have been cancelled this year due to financial pressures, and are calling on the public to support Shake and Stir so it can continue.
