Three new projects in Poole town centre have been completed through grant funding, focusing on art, sustainability and heritage.
Poole BID has delivered a large mural, introduced a zero-emissions maintenance vehicle and restored historic lampposts, thanks to support from the Town Centre Improvement Fund via BCP Council.
The most striking addition is a colourful mural painted by local artist Tech Moon in the underpass between The Lighthouse and Poole Bus Station. The design highlights both the town’s maritime past and its natural wildlife, turning the once-ordinary walkway into a visually engaging feature that’s already drawing attention and boosting footfall.
Poole BID has also unveiled a fully electric maintenance machine named ‘Dusty’, built in France and supplied through TheCompactGroup. The eco-friendly vehicle will help keep the town centre clean without emitting pollution. A freelance operator is being funded by the BID to ensure the machine is regularly in use.
The third project focused on Poole Quay, where historic-style lampposts have been restored with support from Poole Quays Forum. The work aims to preserve the traditional charm of the area while improving lighting and safety for pedestrians.
Jacqui Rock from Poole BID said the projects show pride in Poole’s heritage and commitment to a greener, cleaner town.
Cllr. Rich Herrett from BCP Council described the improvements as a good example of how local leadership can enhance public space for everyone.
