Aidan Dunn has been recommended as BCP Council’s new Chief Executive by a cross-party committee after a rigorous recruitment process.
The appointment is subject to final approval by the full council next Tuesday.
Aidan, who has over three decades of experience spanning local government, the civil service and the NHS, will take over from Graham Farrant who announced his retirement earlier this year.
Currently the Executive Director of Corporate Development at Dorset Council, he has played a pivotal role in establishing the new unitary authority, leading transformation programmes and overseeing the council’s finances.
A Dorset resident, Aidan is a Chartered Public Finance Accountant.
Leader of BCP Council, Millie Earl, said: “I am delighted to recommend Aidan as our new Chief Executive.
“He brings a wealth of experience, energy and enthusiasm and I am confident he will work with members to take BCP Council on the next stage of our exciting journey.
“Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole is an area brimming with potential and I am confident that Aidan will build on what we’ve already established to create a council that supports members to deliver for our residents, businesses, partners and visitors.
Aidan said: “I am absolutely delighted to have the opportunity to join BCP Council as Chief Executive.
“I have been watching with great admiration the work which BCP Council has done since it was created in 2019 and I feel both excited and very privileged to have the chance to be part of the future.
“This is a vibrant and ambitious place with huge potential, and I’m looking forward to working with talented colleagues, councillors, partners and residents to deliver excellent services, drive innovation, and make a real difference for our communities.”
