A new smokehouse restaurant called Lore of the Sky has opened at Guy Ritchie’s Compton Abbas Airfield in Dorset.
It brings authentic Texan barbecue to the historic airfield, with a menu designed by Head Chef Alex Brown.
The restaurant is part of a new phase at the airfield, which has been active since 1962 and is now owned by Guy Ritchie.
Lore of the Sky serves dishes including oak-smoked pork belly, smokehouse nachos and a slow-braised jackfruit burger.
All food is smoked on-site using a J\&R Oyler Smoker, which is the first of its kind in the UK and only the second in Europe.
There is also a drinks menu featuring local beers, ciders and ales, including a house lager called Altitude brewed to mark the site’s aviation history.
The new restaurant takes inspiration from Ritchie’s London pub, Lore of the Land, with a focus on locally sourced produce and a relaxed setting.
Compton Abbas Airfield continues to operate as a fully functioning airfield with views over Shaftesbury.
Visitors can watch aircraft take off and land, enjoy food, or book flying experiences.
Throughout the year, the site hosts events including aerobatics displays, car shows and family days.
Lore of the Sky is open now and welcomes both locals and visitors to Dorset.
