Poole Museum Foundation has announced a new board of trustees ahead of the museum’s reopening this summer.

The new board includes professionals from a wide range of sectors, including education, marketing, recruitment, retail, culture, legal and environmental work.

They will support Poole Museum’s development as it reopens following a three-year transformation project.

Work on the museum has included conservation and restoration of its three listed buildings and has been supported by The National Lottery Heritage Fund.

The museum is owned and operated by BCP Council and is set to reopen in the coming months.

Martin Davies, Chairman of Rawlins Davy Reeves, has been appointed Chair of the Board of Trustees.

Mr Davies said the board brings a “wealth of expertise” and is focused on creating “meaningful partnerships” and “building stronger bonds with existing communities”.

He added that the board aims to support the museum and “place Poole Museum firmly on the map as a vital cultural landmark”.

The Foundation is also planning to recruit a youth trustee in the coming weeks to join the board.

Councillor Andy Martin, Portfolio Holder for Customer, Communications and Culture at BCP Council, welcomed the new trustees and highlighted the importance of their expertise.

He said the museum’s transformation had been “remarkable” and that the new board would help it thrive in the future.

The previous trustees’ work will help shape the direction the museum takes as it reopens.
