Over £2,700 raised at Christchurch Mayor’s Charity Gala Dinner

More than £2,700 was raised at the 2025 Mayor’s Charity Gala Dinner in Christchurch, held at the Captain’s Club Hotel and Spa in April.

The event was hosted by Councillor Paul Hilliard, Mayor of Christchurch, and attended by 87 guests in support of his two chosen charities.

Funds raised will benefit Mudeford Wood Community Centre and the Christchurch and District Branch of Parkinson’s UK, both of which support local residents.

The evening included a three-course meal, live entertainment by local music group Cadence Collective, and a raffle and auction featuring prizes donated by local businesses and individuals.

Auction and raffle items included luxury hampers and experience days, which helped boost the total amount raised.

Guests also heard from Olympic rower and World Champion Matt Aldridge, who gave a motivational talk about the challenges and discipline involved in high-level sport.

His words received strong feedback from the audience and added a thoughtful moment to the event.

Mayor Paul Hilliard said, “It was a fantastic evening filled with community spirit and generosity.”

He added, “I’m thankful to Matt Aldridge for his inspiring words and to everyone who donated prizes.”

Mudeford Wood Community Centre provides local residents with services and activities.

The Christchurch and District Branch of Parkinson’s UK supports people in the area living with Parkinson’s.
