Multiple manhole covers blown out of the ground in Parkstone
Multiple manhole covers were blown out of the ground on Thursday afternoon on Mansfield Road in Parkstone.
The incidents happened around 1pm and local roads were closed for the afternoon whilst emergency services attended.
Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service reported there was an underground fire in the area, with electricity engineers dealing with the situation.
Ashley Road was closed and reopened as a precaution, whilst Mansfield Road and Victoria road remained closed into the afternoon.
Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks later said that a blown fuse at the local substation has damaged a single joint to an underground cable, affecting power supplies to customers in and around Mansfield Road.
