Police appeal for information following death of a Bournemouth man in Poole

Detectives are appealing for information as investigations continue into the death of a Bournemouth man found in Poole.

At 8.12am on Thursday 3 April 2025, Dorset Police received a report that a man had been discovered unresponsive in a tent in a wooded area off Holes Bay Road.

Emergency services attended the scene, and the man, aged in his 40s and from Bournemouth, was pronounced dead. His next of kin have been informed and the coroner notified.

The death is currently being treated as unexplained.

Enquiries have revealed that the man was allegedly assaulted in Chapel Lane, Poole, at approximately 1.15pm on Wednesday 2 April.

A 19-year-old man from Poole has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody. Dorset Police’s Major Crime Investigation Team is leading the investigation.

Detectives are seeking witnesses who may have seen the reported assault near Chapel Lane and Dear Hay Lane between 1pm and 1.30pm on 2 April. Officers are also interested in dashcam footage from the areas of Sterte Road, Sterte Close, and Holes Bay Road between 3.15pm and 4.15pm.
