BCP Council is working with the operator of Bournemouth Pier to make access free of charge for locals during the rest of 2025.
However, an entrance fee may still apply to tourists during busy holiday periods to help manage capacity, says Adventure Attractions boss Sarah Hunter.
Sarah said: “In these challenging times, when many people have less disposable income, we believe the pier should be a place that everyone can enjoy.
“We’ve worked closely with BCP Council to make this happen and remove the toll charge, opening up the pier to locals for Free throughout the year.”
Currently the cost of the toll is £1.65 per adult, or a season pass for £5.50.
“Our goal is to make free entry permanent, and we’ll be reviewing the results of this initiative with BCP Council throughout the season and at the end of the year to assess our options moving forward,” Sarah added.
Councillor Richard Herrett, Portfolio Holder for Destination, Leisure & Commercial Operations at BCP Council said the move means it can be enjoyed by even more people.
