Dorset business leaders take on National Three Peaks Challenge for MYTIME Young Carers

A team of Dorset business leaders is preparing to take on the National Three Peaks Challenge, climbing the highest mountains in Scotland, England, and Wales.

They’re reaching new heights to support MYTIME Young Carers, the Dorset-based charity dedicated to supporting young carers aged between five and 25.

The challenge was spearheaded by Frettens LLP with Karen Edwards, Partner & Head of Corporate & Commercial, bringing together a committed team.

They include:

  • Lewis Barr, Partner Marketing & Commercial at Frettens
  • Zoe Watson, Corporate & Commercial Associate Solicitor at Frettens
  • Krista Cartlidge, CEO, MYTIME Young Carers
  • Liz Hutchings, Founder, Total Guide to Ltd
  • Andrew Rumsey, Associate Director, Even Keel Solutions
  • Chris Downing, James Miller and Jon Huggins from Azets
  • David Mutton, Evolve Advisory

The National Three Peaks Challenge is one of the UK’s most gruelling endurance events.

The team will conquer Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike, and Snowdon, covering a total walking distance of 23 miles (37km), ascending 3,064 meters (10,052ft), and traveling 462 miles between peaks.

While they will navigate Ben Nevis and Scafell Pike independently, they have enlisted an expert guide for Snowdon, which they will climb at night – facing exhaustion in the final stretch.

Karen said: “At Frettens, we believe in making a real impact in our community and this challenge is an incredible way to do just that.

“Young carers face immense daily challenges, often balancing responsibilities far beyond their years.

“We’re determined to push our own limits to raise vital funds and awareness for MYTIME Young Carers and the fantastic support they provide.”

Krista Cartlidge, CEO of MYTIME Young Carers, said: “This challenge embodies the resilience and determination we see in young carers every day.

“We are so grateful to the team for taking on this monumental feat in support of our mission.

“The funds raised will make a real difference, providing opportunities, resources and much-needed support for young carers.”

In preparation for the challenge, the team has dedicated months to intensive training, balancing their professional commitments with evening and weekend hikes ready for the main event during the weekend of the 21st and 22nd of June.

The group is encouraging businesses and individuals across Dorset to support their efforts by donating and helping to raise awareness of MYTIME Young Carers and its vital work.
