BCP Council Chief Executive Graham Farrant announces retirement
Chief Executive of BCP Council, Graham Farrant, has announced his intention to retire at the end of August.
Graham has led BCP Council since its formation in 2019, overseeing the merger of four councils in one of the country’s most complex local government reorganisations.
His tenure included managing financial challenges, political shifts, and the COVID-19 pandemic.
Reflecting on his time at BCP, Graham highlighted achievements such as an improved rating for Children’s Services and financial stability. He expressed gratitude to colleagues and the community, calling the role rewarding.
Council Leader Millie Earl praised Farrant’s leadership through significant challenges, crediting him with improving services and financial management.
The council will begin the search for a new Chief Executive to ensure a smooth transition in September.
Before joining BCP, Farrant held leadership roles at HM Land Registry, Thurrock Council, and several other public and private sector organisations.
