Jet2 has announced a further expansion of its activities at Bournemouth Airport on the day its first flight took off to Tenerife.
Now the airline’s 12th base with two aircraft based at the Bournemouth Airport, it will have 27 flights a week to 16 destinations this year.
But Steve Heapy, Jet2’s Chief Executive, said its Bournemouth operation will be even bigger from next year.
He told Bournemouth One: “We will be putting a third aircraft here so the number of flights will increase to 41 per week and we’ll go to 25 destinations per week, summer and winter.
“We’ve also announced today that we’re starting operations to Agadir in Morocco from winter so there’ll be a huge range of destinations on sale, three aircraft based here and, hopefully, many more happy customers.”
Other destinations to be served by Jet2 include Rhodes, Ibiza, Crete, Fuerteventura and Madeira.
Around 100 jobs are expected to be created with its new operation at Bournemouth Airport.
