Senior Dorset Councillors visit new housing developments in Verwood and Alderholt

Senior Dorset Council members visited Pennyfarthing Homes’ new developments, Oakwood Grove and Potters Wood to see the government’s First Homes scheme in action.

The initiative helps first-time buyers—especially key workers and local residents—purchase homes at a 30% discount, with the savings preserved for future buyers.

Pennyfarthing Homes has already delivered 31 First Homes and plans 83 more.

Managing Director Matt Dukes highlighted the company’s commitment to supporting local buyers.

Cllr Gill Taylor emphasized the scheme’s role in making homeownership more accessible and strengthening the local economy.

Pennyfarthing Homes has also made a donation to cover the maintenance of Alderholt’s four Defibtech Lifeline View AED Semi-Automatic Defibrillator for the next three years.
