Wessex Way reopened following incident involving welfare of a woman in Bournemouth

Wessex Way in Bournemouth was closed this afternoon following an incident involving the welfare of a woman between St Pauls Roundabout at ASDA and Richmond Hill.

Dorset Police tells us they received a report at 1.13pm on Wednesday 22 January 2025 raising concern for the welfare of a woman in the Bournemouth area.

“She was subsequently located on a bridge over the A338 Wessex Way near to the St Pauls Roundabout.

“Officers have attended, along with the fire service, and have been making attempts to engage with the woman.

“Road closures have been put in place and we would like to thank members of the public for their patience and understanding as we respond to this incident. Motorists are urged to avoid the area if possible.”

2.50pm UPDATE: The road has now reopened.
