Chance to quiz BCP Council Leader as Cllr Millie Earl answers questions from residents in live Q&A session

BCP Council Leader Millie Earl is to answer questions from residents during a live Question and Answer session today, Tuesday.

It will be broadcast on the council’s social media channels from 12.15pm.

Cllr Earl will be joined by Cabinet Member for Transformation, Resource and Governance, Cllr Jeff Hanna, to discuss the latest work being done by the council to give local people a voice in the way their area is run.

They will update residents on the Community Governance Review and how residents can have their say on the way local communities are represented in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole.

They will also cover the latest developments following recent announcements by the government on devolution.

Cllr Earl said: “We know from how much residents interacted with our first Q&A that many are passionate about where we live.

“This first session of the new year is a great opportunity to ask Cllr Hanna and me any questions you have about how democracy works at a local level, and the role you can play in shaping it to best serve our communities.

“We are both advocates of the important role local government plays, and the good it can do to empower communities and directly improve the lives of local people, so I would welcome questions from residents on this.

“There has been a lot in the news recently about the government’s plans for devolution, and many will also rightly be wondering what this means for us in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole.

“Work is underway to make sure the best interests of our residents are served well by any future devolution changes, and although the specifics are yet to be worked through, I look forward to outlining the latest stage of these proposals during the Q&A.”

There will be an opportunity for people to ask questions during the Q&A within the comments section.

As many of them as possible will be answered by Cllr Earl and Cllr Hanna during the session.

The council’s main social media channels include youtube.com/bcpcouncil.

The Q&A will be available to watch later for those unable to tune in live.
