Snow forecast for Dorset as Met Office issues yellow weather warning for Wednesday from 9am to midnight

Forecasters are predicting snow for Dorset tomorrow.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning covering southern counties from 9am until midnight.

While not all areas will be affected, outbreaks of snow may push in from the southwest during the day.

The Met Office says between two and five centimetres could accumulate fairly widely with as much as ten centimetres over higher ground.

Rain or sleet is more likely near coasts.

The wintery weather is expected to cause delays and make driving hazardous in some areas.

People are being advised to plan their journeys in advance and check for any delays or road closures.

The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has extended its amber Cold-Health Alert (CHA) for all regions, including Dorset, until midday on Sunday 12th January.

It’s warned the cold weather can have a serious impact on the health of some people, including those aged 65 and over and those with pre-existing health conditions.
