A man was taken to hospital after emergency services searched the sea at Sandbanks
A coastguard helicopter was involved as well as coastguard rescue teams from Swanage, Poole and Southbourne and the RNLI’s Poole lifeboat.
Dorset Police and South Western Ambulance Service also attended the incident at 6.45am.
The man taken to hospital was in the water near the ferry.
The search found no-one else had entered the sea and services stood down at 8am.
In a statement, Dorset Police said: “Dorset Police received a report at 6.43am on Tuesday 17 December 2024 raising concern for the welfare of a man who had been in the water near to the ferry in Poole.
“The man was taken to receive treatment and the appropriate care by the ambulance service.
“Searches were carried out by HM Coastguard and the RNLI and following further enquiries, it was established that nobody else had entered the water.”
