Police appeal for help after man is taken to hospital with serious leg injury following fail-to-stop collision

A man in his 60s was taken to hospital with a serious leg injury after his car was in collision with another vehicle which failed to stop.

Police were called to the collision on the A350 Blandford Road North at Lytchett Heath between the Upton Roundabout and the Roundhouse Roundabout at 4.47pm yesterday, Sunday.

It involved a grey Volkswagen Golf and a silver Peugeot 2008 with reports that the occupant of the Golf made off from the scene on foot.

Road closures were put in place as the emergency services responded.

Officers are now appealing for witnesses and anyone with dashcam footage to come forward.

Sergeant Gareth Thomas, of the Roads Policing Team, said: “We are carrying out enquiries into the circumstances of this collision and to identify the driver of the Volkswagen Golf involved.

“I am keen to hear from any witnesses to the collision itself, or the manner of driving of the vehicles involved prior to it.

“I would also ask anyone who may have captured any relevant dashcam footage to please make contact with us.

“Finally, I would like to thank members of the public for their patience and understanding while the road closures were in place.”
