Police officer taken to hospital following crash in Bournemouth

A police officer has been taken to hospital following a collision between a police car and a Ford Fiesta on Saturday evening.

The incident happened around 7.30pm on Christchurch Road at the junction with Derby Road.

Emergency services attended the scene and the road was closed between the junctions with Knyveton Road and St Swithun’s Roundabout. The road reopened at around 9.15pm.

Police Sergeant Lee Savage, of the Roads Policing Team, said: “Officers were at the scene carrying out enquiries to establish the circumstances of the collision.

“I am appealing to anyone who saw what happened or captured anything of relevance on dashcam to please contact Dorset Police.

“We would like to thank motorists for their patience and understanding while the road was closed.”

The police officer’s injuries are not life-threatening or life-changing.
