Person rescued from water at Avon Beach in Christchurch

Multiple emergency services responded to reports of a person in difficulty in the water at Avon Beach this afternoon.

Dorset Police, Coastguard, RNLI and the ambulance service attended the incident around 2pm.

An HM Coastguard spokesperson said: “A coastguard helicopter, coastguard rescue teams from Southbourne and Lymington, an RNLI lifeboat from Mudeford, Dorset Police, South West Ambulance Service and an air ambulance were all sent.

“The person was passed into the care of the ambulance service.”
