Have photo ID at the ready to vote in today’s general election, say BCP Council

BCP Council is reminding people they’ll need photo ID to vote today.

Without it you won’t be able to cast your vote at a polling station.

Accepted forms of ID include a passport, driving licence and some bus passes.

A full list of accepted ID is available at bcpcouncil.gov.uk/voterID

Polling stations close at ten o’clock tonight.

Bournemouth One will have the results for the five parliamentary constituencies in the BCP area in the early hours of tomorrow.

Graham Farrant, Acting Returning Officer at BCP Council, said; “The requirement to show photo ID at the polling station was in place since last year’s local elections, and overall residents of BCP responded well to this change.

“For those voting for the first time since this requirement came in, most photo ID that you have, like a passport or driving licence, will be accepted. It does not have to be in date. You can bring expired ID, as long as the picture still looks like you.

“Please remember to bring your photo ID as that way we can ensure that everyone who wants to, can have their say in this democratic election.”
