Stars shine at second annual hospital awards as winners are named in 15 categories

Uplifting examples of inspirational care, compassion and leadership have been celebrated at University Hospital Dorset’s second annual awards.

More than 340 members of staff and hospital volunteers attended the event at The Pavilion in Bournemouth.

They were joined by patients and relatives who put forward staff for recognition.

The 15 award categories received 860 nominations.

Siobhan Harrington, chief executive, said the awards were a fantastic opportunity to recognise incredible teams and individuals across the trust.

She said: “It’s great to be able to come together and celebrate all that is great about UHD.

“We all come to work to provide the very best care for our patients, and special events like this give us an opportunity to take a moment, and recognise the impact we have on others.

“A huge thank you to all patients and colleagues who made a nomination, and to our UHD NHS Charity and Locum’s Nest for supporting this brilliant evening.”

Helen Martin, Freedom to Speak Up guardian, was named the winner of the Chair’s Award.

She said: “I am both shocked and humbled.

“Thank you to everyone who believes in the work Freedom to Speak Up does.

“I am so fortunate to love the work I do, helping others help themselves.”
