Emergency services called to reports of a missing man at Bournemouth Beach

Emergency services were called to Bournemouth Beach on Monday following reports of a person missing in the water.

Dorset Police received a report at 5.24pm on Monday 24 June 2024 raising concern for a man in the water near Bournemouth Pier.

Officers attended and carried out searches, with assistance from the coastguard and RNLI.

The man was located safe and well further down the beach at around 6.15pm, having exited the water of his own accord.

During the search, The Maritime and Coastguard Agency said: “HM Coastguard is currently coordinating the search for a male, following a report of a person in the water at Bournemouth beach.

“The Poole and Southbourne Coastguard Rescue Teams, a Coastguard helicopter, Poole RNLI lifeboat and Dorset Police are currently on scene.”

A helicopter was seen circling around the Pier area, and RNLI jet skis were also searching.
