Nationwide has extended its promise that anywhere it has a branch it will remain until at least 2028, including Broadstone.
Despite a population of around 10,000, Nationwide is the last financial services provider in Broadstone.
NatWest and Barclays closed in 2022.
The Broadstone branch first opened in 1977 as the Portman Building Society when the average UK house price was just £12,805.
It received more than 50,000 visits last year while the branch ATM was used over 79,000 times in the last 12 months.
Nationwide has recently launched the Safe Space initiative, with Broadstone among the branches involved.
Discreet support is offered for anyone facing domestic abuse, not just Nationwide customers.
The initiative provides a suitable environment for anyone needing to make calls to third-party experts and helplines.
Broadstone branch colleagues have received specialised training to help support those experiencing abuse, including helping them manage their finances, providing access to a specialist support team and other resources.
Jean Morgan, Branch Manager at Nationwide in Broadstone, said: “Our customers aren’t just account holders – they‘re neighbours, friends, and integral members of the community.
“Nationwide’s Branch Promise commits us to communities up and down the country until 2028 at the earliest, so we can continue to provide a warm and welcoming environment for our customers.
“High streets need as much support as possible at the moment and we look forward to welcoming more Broadstone residents to show the benefit of face-to-face banking at a local branch.”
