Over 300 staff at BCP Council apply for voluntary redundancy as part of £50 million savings plan

More than 300 staff working for BCP Council have applied for voluntary redundancy.

To date, just under 80 applications have been accepted while more than 200 have been declined.

The figures were reported to last night’s meeting of the full council.

The authority is making the job cuts as part of £50 million worth of savings.

It says compulsory redundancies will still be needed to meet its target.

BCP Council has approximately 4,600 employees, excluding casual staff.
