Investigation underway after crews tackle sixth heath fire since Saturday

Investigators are today trying to establish the cause of a heath fire near Corfe Mullen last night.

Crews from seven fire stations spent nearly one and a half hours tackling the blaze on two hectares of land.

They received the first of 31 calls from members of the public at just after 7.30pm.

Higher Blandford Road was closed to traffic during the incident.

It’s the sixth heath fire in Bournemouth and Poole since Saturday after blazes at Bourne Valley Nature Reserve, Talbot Heath and Turbary Common.

The other five are thought to have been started deliberately.
