First supercar show postponed to later date due to forecast strong winds

A supercar show in Bournemouth this weekend has been postponed due to forecast strong winds.

The first Coastal Speed and Style show was due to take place in The Triangle and Commercial Road on Sunday.

Organisers have now decided to switch the event to a later, yet to be confirmed, date.

In a statement they said the safety of all those involved, as well as the cars on display, was the top priority.

With gusts of up to 48 miles per hour forecast they felt the event could not be hosted safely.

The full statement on the Coastal Speed and Style website reads:

“We are very sorry to inform that due to forecasted high winds this Sunday, we have had to make the very difficult decision today [April 4] to postpone the inaugural Coastal Speed and Style Supercar Sunday.

“Safety of all those involved, our event attendees, and the stunning cars that will be on display is our priority and, with gusts of up to 48 mph forecast, we simply cannot host the event safely.

“We’ve been looking forward to this day for so long, with visions of incredible vehicles and buzzing excitement filling our minds.

“But now, we find ourselves in a situation where we simply can’t take any chances, especially when it comes to something as unpredictable as the wind.

“On a positive note, we’re already discussing a new date that suits everyone, and we hope to share those details with you soon.

“To all those who were preparing to showcase their prized vehicles or simply join us for a day of automotive and family fun, we can’t apologise enough for any inconvenience this postponement may cause.

“But please know, it’s not a decision we’ve taken lightly.

“Next to the display of supercars, a variety of activities were planned for both children and adults, and these activities were scheduled to take place in tents.

“We’ve explored every avenue to mitigate the risks.

“Despite planning on using heavier than normal weights for stability, these structures are still temporary and could pose a significant risk in high winds.

“Your understanding and ongoing support mean the world to us.

“Thank you so much for your support.

“We’re counting down the days until we can finally come together for an unforgettable celebration.

“Until then, stay safe, and we’ll see you soon.

“Please follow our social media pages for updates.”
