The Leader of the Liberal Democrats has called for a sewage tax on the profits of polluting water companies.
Sir Ed Davey was speaking on a visit to Poole yesterday.
According to latest figures the number of raw sewage discharges into rivers and the sea in England and Wales hit an all-time record last year.
Sir Ed said urgent action is needed.
