Public exhibition planned to discuss Purple Haze project

A public exhibition will take place at The Hub in Verwood to give questions about the upcoming Purple Haze project.

Grundon Sand & Gravel has been announced as the contractor for mineral extraction from the site, which sits next to Moors Valley and opposite the Somerley Household Waste Recycling Centre. They want to identify the most appropriate ways to work the area, to minimise environmental impacts and maximise restoration benefits.

The land in question, allocated for extraction of soft sand and gravel, is considered by Hampshire County Council to be the best option for continuing a steady supply of sand and gravel.

The exhibition is happening on Wednesday 6 March between 2.30pm to 8pm and local residents wanting more information are encouraged to attend.

The Friends of Ringwood Forest run a website with details about the plan and have an active Facebook group to keep people up-to-date with developments.
