Verwood garage fire destroys car overnight

A fire in a garage at a residential property in the early hours of Good Friday has totally destroyed a car.

Fire crews from Verwood were called to a bungalow at The Forestside around 3am and had to stop the blaze from reaching the property and garage next door.

A spokesperson from Verwood Fire Station said: “The contents including a car were 100% destroyed by fire. Crews worked hard to extinguish the fire and preventing it from spreading to the bungalow and a neighbouring garage.

“4x Breathing Apparatus wearers, 2 hose reel jets and a main line were used, also foam was applied to deal with a fuel fire once the tank had ruptured.”

There are no reports of injuries from the event.
