New council homes ready for tenants in Bournemouth

Three new modern family homes have been developed by BCP Council’s housing delivery team at a former garage site in Ibbertson Way, Strouden Park, Bournemouth.

These new homes will be ready to welcome families following the completion of the building works on 29 June.

BCP Council’s inhouse construction team built the new homes, which was previously the site of 16 garages.

The development consists of two two-bedroom houses and one three-bedroom house. The new council homes all have gardens and parking spaces. They incorporate sustainable features to help reduce utility costs. These include increased thermal efficiency, solar panels, a sun pipe to enhance natural daylight and triple glazing.

On completion of the building and development works, the houses will become home to three families who are currently waiting on the council’s housing register.

Councillor Robert Lawton, BCP Council’s Portfolio holder for homes said: “We are delighted that this project is now completed, which will provide three light and spacious new family homes. I would like to thank our teams who have been involved in this project for their dedicated work in getting the houses completed in good time.

“We hope the three families who will soon be moving in will be very happy in their new homes.”

The properties are owned and managed by BCP Council and will be let on an affordable rent.
