{"id":7970,"date":"2019-03-27T14:22:02","date_gmt":"2019-03-27T14:22:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/verwoodtoday.co.uk\/?p=7970"},"modified":"2019-03-27T14:22:02","modified_gmt":"2019-03-27T14:22:02","slug":"science-week-at-emmanuel-ce-middle-school","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news.bournemouthone.com\/test\/science-week-at-emmanuel-ce-middle-school\/","title":{"rendered":"Science Week at Emmanuel CE Middle School"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Youngsters at Emmanuel CE Middle School in Verwood spent a whole week unearthing new discoveries in a fun-packed Science Week.<\/p>\n<p>Kids at the school, which is part of Wimborne Academy Trust, staged daily fun scientific activities for its pupils to try out, including taking part in a dry ice extravaganza.<\/p>\n<p>With a special theme of \u2018journeys\u2019 a different activity was held every lunchtime for the children to pop in and try.<\/p>\n<p>From examining raisins to see the nucleation process of carbon dioxide build-up to discovering how model boats can be propelled using the force of washing up liquid, the students got to enjoy a wide range of the sciences.<\/p>\n<p>Executive headteacher, Ron Jenkinson, said: \u201cFor Science Week our special theme was designed to take students on a journey of different scientific activities that might not be covered in the curriculum.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-7973\" src=\"https:\/\/verwoodtoday.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/Emmanuel-Science-Week-4-1024x592.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"592\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was wonderful to see so many of our students get involved and show such enthusiasm for science.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis week was made possible thanks to our head of science, Angela Etheridge, who planned and ran all the events.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Emmanuel\u2019s special week was launched with an assembly to engage the students in the possibilities of science both now and in the future. And in addition to the lunchtime activities, which also included creating flying machines, the students were also encouraged to enter two competitions.<\/p>\n<p>The first competition was set by the British Science Association to design a poster for Science Week and for the second challenge, the school called on the students to produce their own journey sticks.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-7976\" src=\"https:\/\/verwoodtoday.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/Emmanuel-Science-Week-5-1024x627.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"627\" \/><\/p>\n<p>CEO of Wimborne Academy Trust, Liz West, said: \u201cThis has been a fantastic event, which has really brought science alive for our students.
