{"id":71788,"date":"2024-01-12T09:42:05","date_gmt":"2024-01-12T09:42:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/news.bournemouthone.com\/?p=71788"},"modified":"2024-01-12T09:42:05","modified_gmt":"2024-01-12T09:42:05","slug":"petition-to-save-paddling-pools-in-redhill-and-christchurch-close-to-hitting-target","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news.bournemouthone.com\/test\/petition-to-save-paddling-pools-in-redhill-and-christchurch-close-to-hitting-target\/","title":{"rendered":"Petition to save paddling pools in Redhill and Christchurch close to hitting target"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Over 2000 people have signed an online petition to save the Redhill Paddling Pool and Quomps Splash Park.<\/p>\n<p>BCP Council is currently proposing to close the sites or transfer ownership to external partners, along with the facility at Hamworthy Park in Poole.<\/p>\n<p>However, the Echo is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bournemouthecho.co.uk\/news\/24042309.christchurch-town-council-save-quomps-splash-park\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">reporting<\/a> Christchurch Town Council may step in to save Quomps, which has allocated \u00a355,000 in funds for the park in its draft budget for 2024\/25.<\/p>\n<p>Christchurch Town Council&#8217;s acting town clerk James Atkinson told the newspaper: &#8220;Christchurch Town Council understands the importance of the Quomps Splash Park to the local community.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;After learning of its potential closure, we have been working hard to enable its future management.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are investigating how the splash park can be operated in a sustainable manner, so that this much-loved community asset can be enjoyed by future generations.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>At the time of writing, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.change.org\/p\/stop-the-closure-of-local-paddling-pools-in-redhill-and-christchurch-quomps\">a petition on change.org<\/a> has just short of its 2500 target. <\/p>\n<p>Organiser of the petition, Laura Ballantyne, says: &#8220;We believe that it is crucial to invest in facilities that contribute significantly to the wellbeing of our community\u2019s families and young people.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Let&#8217;s stand together against this proposal by signing this petition.
