{"id":37590,"date":"2022-02-16T11:05:31","date_gmt":"2022-02-16T11:05:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bournemouthtoday.com\/?p=37590"},"modified":"2022-02-16T11:05:31","modified_gmt":"2022-02-16T11:05:31","slug":"work-begins-on-southbourne-beach-development-project","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news.bournemouthone.com\/test\/work-begins-on-southbourne-beach-development-project\/","title":{"rendered":"Work begins on Southbourne Beach Development Project"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A clearance programme has now started on the former Bistro on the Beach site to pave the way for a temporary catering venue before a brand new structure will be built.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Trading at the temporary venue will start in June 2022. It will serve food and drink with outdoor seating and toilets \u2013 and run throughout the summers of 2022 and 2023, from late May to early October.<\/p>\n<p>Construction of the final building, which will feature a brand-new restaurant and 17 overnight-stay beach lodges, will then begin in Autumn 2023 for an opening in 2024.<\/p>\n<p>This time frame will enable the Council to develop the best possible design for the permanent site, procure a high-quality operator, and ensure value for the area in the long-term, while maintaining an operational site serving users of Southbourne Beach.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/bournemouthtoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/new-building2-scaled.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"2560\" height=\"1441\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-37592\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Councillor Mohan Iyengar, Portfolio Holder for Tourism and Active Health, said: \u201cThe current building was end-of life, hence the removal.
