{"id":33309,"date":"2022-01-11T13:02:53","date_gmt":"2022-01-11T13:02:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bournemouthtoday.com\/?p=33309"},"modified":"2022-01-11T13:02:53","modified_gmt":"2022-01-11T13:02:53","slug":"face-in-the-hole-boards-to-help-with-road-safety-in-dorset","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news.bournemouthone.com\/test\/face-in-the-hole-boards-to-help-with-road-safety-in-dorset\/","title":{"rendered":"Face-in-the-hole boards to help with road safety in Dorset"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The road safety team at Dorset &amp; Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service is using new interactive display boards to engage with local communities.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Taking a lead from the traditional British seaside \u2018face-in-the-hole\u2019 boards, the displays use humour and various behaviour change techniques to share important road safety messaging.<\/p>\n<p>The different displays pick up on the biggest dangers to drivers, known as the \u2018fatal four\u2019:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>This is my sober face because mates look after mates focuses on drink-driving and the importance of using a taxi or having a designated driver;<\/li>\n<li>This is my \u2018do not disturb\u2019 face reminds people to keep their mobile phones switched off or out of reach while driving;<\/li>\n<li>Another key message is covered by This is my smug face because I wasn\u2019t speeding; and<\/li>\n<li>This is my \u2018saved by my seatbelt\u2019 face reinforces the need to always use seatbelts, both as a driver and as a passenger.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Although the concept has been designed in-house by DWFRS, it has the support of both Wiltshire &amp; Swindon Road Safety Partnership and Dorset Road Safe.<\/p>\n<p>Road safety manager Christine Sharma said: \u201cWe\u2019ll be using the boards at our Safe Drive Stay Alive shows and community events in place of our previous pull-up banners.
