Tatnam Road in Poole has now reopened following a decision by BCP Council Cabinet last month.<\/p>\n
The trial road closure scheme was introduced to support a low traffic neighbourhood by discouraging through-traffic, creating additional space where people can cycle and walk safely and formed part of the Council\u2019s initial transport response to the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n
Public consultation, which took place throughout the trial, revealed that the majority of respondents wanted the temporary road closure to open.<\/p>\n
At a meeting on December 15, Cabinet made the decision to withdraw the trial.<\/p>\n
Some local residents have been vocal about wanting to keep the road closed, saying it kept the area safer and encouraged more pupils to cycle to school.<\/p>\n
A BCP Council Spokesperson said: \u201cFollowing a comprehensive review of the feedback from residents through a robust democratic process, a decision was made by Cabinet to reopen Tatnam Road to traffic and remove the current Experimental Traffic Regulation Order. <\/p>\n
