{"id":21645,"date":"2020-12-10T14:15:03","date_gmt":"2020-12-10T14:15:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/verwoodtoday.co.uk\/?p=21645"},"modified":"2020-12-10T14:15:03","modified_gmt":"2020-12-10T14:15:03","slug":"admissions-could-be-halved-at-hillside-first-school","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news.bournemouthone.com\/test\/admissions-could-be-halved-at-hillside-first-school\/","title":{"rendered":"Admissions could be halved at Hillside First School"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Wimborne Academy Trust is proposing to reduce its admissions number for the reception year group at Hillside Community First School from 60 to 30.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>A consultation has been started by the Trust, details of which you can view on its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hillsidefirst.dorset.sch.uk\/attachments\/download.asp?file=541&amp;type=pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">website<\/a>, and responses must be submitted by Friday 15th January 2021.<\/p>\n<p>In a letter to parents and carers, the school says the move is a result of the recent reduction in the number of young families living in the local area, however, it feels with the building of over 200 new homes in the area, the move could be short sighted.<\/p>\n<p>The school also says the change in the number of admissions would result in decreased funding for the school, fewer teachers and staff, and not as much support for before and after school clubs.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-21647\" src=\"https:\/\/verwoodtoday.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/letter.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"750\" height=\"1002\" \/><\/p>\n<p>A Facebook Group has been created named &#8216;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/Save-the-future-of-Hillside-First-School-Verwood-101024561885687\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Save the future of Hillside First School<\/a>&#8216;
