{"id":14200,"date":"2020-03-17T19:10:24","date_gmt":"2020-03-17T19:10:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/verwoodtoday.co.uk\/?p=14200"},"modified":"2020-03-17T19:10:24","modified_gmt":"2020-03-17T19:10:24","slug":"annual-verwood-carnival-cancelled-for-2020","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news.bournemouthone.com\/test\/annual-verwood-carnival-cancelled-for-2020\/","title":{"rendered":"Annual Verwood Carnival cancelled for 2020"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Verwood Carnival, planned for Bank Holiday Monday 25th May 2020 on the Fuzzy Bit, has been cancelled.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The event has cited the <a href=\"https:\/\/verwoodtoday.co.uk\/coronavirus\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">COVID-19 outbreak<\/a> as the reason for the move, in the interest of public safety.<\/p>\n<p>The Carnival committee says it feels this is the right decision and will begin planning for a return of the event in 2021 when it is safe to do so.<\/p>\n<p>A statement on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/VerwoodCarnival\/posts\/1919741268157618\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">event Facebook Page<\/a> says: &#8220;Please be assurred that any stall bookings will be cancelled with immediate effect. No money has been banked as this has been a situation we have been watching closely for weeks. Cheques will be returned asap.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Sadly this means that the Carnival Queen and Princess selection will not go ahead.
