Dorset Police is celebrating its volunteers as National Volunteers’ Week runs from June 1 to June 7.
The force says volunteers, including the Special Constabulary, have contributed more than 23,300 hours over the past year.
That is the equivalent of more than 5,000 shifts supporting community safety across Dorset.
Dorset Police currently has 56 special constables, who are volunteer police officers with the same powers as regular officers.
There are also 128 police support volunteers and more than 1,200 Community Speed Watch volunteers.
Assistant Chief Officer Jo Mosley thanked volunteers for their commitment and professionalism.
Police and Crime Commissioner David Sidwick said volunteers make a meaningful difference in keeping Dorset communities safe.
