Hendy Foundation opens Dorset charity grants

Hendy Foundation has invited Dorset charities to apply for new grants as it begins distributing more than £60,000 raised this year.

Local organisations have until Monday 29 September to make an application through the foundation’s website, with successful groups set to receive funds before the end of this year.

Last year, Hendy Foundation gave more than £50,000 in support to 27 different charities across the south coast, ranging from welfare groups to community initiatives.

The foundation, which is linked with Hendy Group, is focusing part of its fundraising this year on food poverty and welfare charities. This follows the efforts of Hendy Group ambassador Rosemary Shrager, who raised more than £35,000 during a 450-mile cycle from Land’s End to Dover.

Alongside her ride, Rosemary also carried out cookery demonstrations at stops along the route to boost awareness and donations.

Applications will be reviewed by a panel of volunteer trustees, who will assess eligibility and carry out due diligence checks before deciding which charities will benefit this year.

The foundation was launched in 2018 and has been providing financial support to local charitable projects, organisations and individuals ever since. It continues to build on the Hendy family’s long tradition of community support in Dorset and across the wider south coast.
