Bournemouth Airport is to spend £60 million over three years on infrastructure improvements.
They include expanding the terminal building and its passenger facilities.
Yesterday saw a major milestone when airline and holiday operator Jet2 started flying from the airport.
By next year it will be operating 41 flights per week to 25 destinations, summer and winter, bringing hundreds of thousands of new passengers to Bournemouth.
Ryanair and TUI also operate from the airport.
Andrew Bell, Chief Executive of Regional & City Airports, which owns Bournemouth Airport, told Bournemouth One: “We’re estimating investing something in the order of £60 million over a three year period to make sure that the infrastructure is ready for the passengers who are going to use all of the services that are on offer from here.
“It’s going to start with the terminal building which is going to grow, all of the passenger facilities that you associate with the terminal.
“We are also investing in our cargo infrastructure and the airfield as a whole.
“To keep up with all the activity that we’re seeing the airfield as a whole is going to get a good dose of investment in the future.”
Bournemouth Airport welcomed its one millionth passenger in 2024 and is looking forward to even bigger growth this year.
