Pet charity shop opens in Bournemouth and is looking for volunteers and donations

A new pet charity store has opened in Bournemouth aiming to make a difference to the lives of sick and injured animals.

PDSA Bournemouth Shop on Commercial Road is appealing to locals who have spare time to volunteer and also donate any unwanted belongings to help keep their shelves stocked.

Unwanted items such as pre-loved clothes, books, toys and homeware are all welcomed.

The store raises funds to help unwell or injured pets, supporting PDSA’s veterinary work across its 49 Pet Hospitals, including the nearby Bournemouth PDSA Pet Hospital.

The charitable service is available for pet owners who are struggling to afford essential veterinary treatments, providing free and low-cost vet care that keeps people together with their much-loved pets.

PDSA Volunteering Business Partner Jennie Pearson said: “We’d love to welcome more friendly local faces to come and visit our brand-new store in Bournemouth where they can join our already brilliant team of volunteers and make a difference to pets across the country.

“For those with time to spare, volunteering can be a great way to gain a sense of purpose, while meeting new people within the local community. With the added bonus of being able to improve knowledge and skills for any future employment prospects. Our new store is already busier than ever, so any help is very much appreciated whilst the new shop and team gets settled in.

“Whether to have a browse around, dedicate some time to working in the shop, or simply donate unwanted items – we’re incredibly grateful to the local community for whatever support they can offer.”
